Every time a woman gives birth it is a profound and life changing experience for her. As your birth doula, my goal is to provide resources, advocacy, and support for you and your partner leading up to, through, and beyond the birth of your baby.
My fee includes the following:
I meet with clients at least twice prenatally. These visits can be in your home, at a coffee shop, my office, or I can accompany you on a visit with your care provider. Prenatal visits usually last anywhere from 1.5 – 2 hours. As the birth approaches, your individual needs may dictate a need for an additional prenatal visit for any number of reasons. If this becomes apparent, we will make accommodations for another visit.
I will organize a meal train for you. This is a free service that we can use to help organize meal delivery during the postpartum weeks so that you don’t end up receiving a ton of food on one day, but none for the next week.
As my client, you will have access to my lending library and I will help provide you with up to date research and information – from evidence based studies to current professional organization recommendations. I will help you understand routine procedures you will encounter throughout your birth, and help you sort through your options, and help you and your partner become advocates for your care.
If you wish to write a birth plan, I can help you construct a comprehensive written plan for your labor and delivery, as well as newborn care.
Throughout the prenatal period you will likely come up with new questions or concerns that you would like help working through. I can be reached through unlimited passive communication – texts, emails, or instant messaging. I will respond to all passive communication within 24 hours.
I will be go on call from 37 weeks gestation – 42 weeks. You would call me as soon as you were in labor and we would have a phone conversation to assess your needs at that point in labor and make an interim game plan. Typically as you enter active labor I will come to you and assist with your labor – whether you are at home or at the place of birth. I will provide physical and emotional support for you and your partner through labor and delivery.
After delivery, I will stick around long enough to ensure the breastfeeding relationship has been established and that mom and baby are stable and everyone’s needs are met (typically around 2 hours).
I will contact you 24-48 hours after birth to check in on the new family and see if there is anything you need. Depending on your needs, we will have an initial postpartum visit during this time to assess mother and child well being and provide help with resources should they become available.
Once you have arrived at home, I will provide 2 2 hour postpartum doula visits. These visits look different depending on the individual needs of each family, but include anything from processing your birth, assisting with navigating your transition to motherhood, and helping out around the house if needed.
